The point of cutting this pattern tight to the Microsoft Surface is simple: Super Corner reinforcement sits in the four corners, which is where a dropped bag lands roughly nine times out of ten. Nothing moves, so nothing wears a mark into the corner of the lid.
Pack the Microsoft Surface, then an adapter, a dongle and a folded cloth, and the x series-black shell still closes flat — the pocket was sized after the machine, not before it.
