Samsung Galaxy — that is the machine this one was measured against. the lid folds back into a wedge, and the outside stays flat enough to slide into a locker or an overhead bin.

We tried the A385 the way the Samsung Galaxy actually travels — bag on the floor of a train, bag in the boot, bag dropped on a tiled hallway. The hinge is the weak point in most hard cases, so ours is reinforced along the full length and the shell stays square when the lid is open.

There is a flat pocket for a charger, a short cable and a mouse. It sits against the outer wall, so adding a charger does not press anything into the lid of the Samsung Galaxy.

Will the Samsung Galaxy still fit with a skin on the lid?

A protective skin or a thin screen cover is fine — there is a little give in the A385. A second hard shell already clipped to the Samsung Galaxy is not, because the case is cut to the bare machine.

Does it fit in a tote as well?

Yes — the outer walls of the A385 stay flat, so with the Samsung Galaxy inside it drops into a laptop compartment or a tote without bulging.
